What Happens After the Florida Department of Health Issues a License?

There have been big changes to how the Florida Department of Health issues licenses granted to practitioners in Florida. If you are a Florida physician, nurse, dentist, psychologist, pharmacist, or any other type of provider, you will want to be aware of these changes.

DOH has transitioned to an e-Licensing (electronic licensing) process. The Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance will issue professional health care licenses online, and the licensee will be responsible for printing their own license. This new process started July 1, 2023, and is free of charge. This is a change from the previous system, where DOH would mail a physical license to the practitioner, a process which used to take up to 10 days.

What does this mean for your license? You must ensure that your correct email address is on file with DOH by going to your profile on the MQA Online Services Portal. Regularly check your spam for any correspondence from DOH and your professional Board. You should also print a copy of your license for your records, even if you can access it online.
